The Stag Barber Shop was first opened by “Haney” (now called Maple Ridge) resident Al Clarke in 1952. He and close friend and barber Bob Kilsby, groomed local gentleman, while young shop hand, and adopted son of Al, Arthur Wells, worked as a boot black, cleaning and shining shoes in the back corner.
Over nearly 7 decades the shop has known three incredible owners, all of whom worked as barbers in the first chair as is tradition.
Kandace first apprenticed in the shop under second owner and barber Russ Fisher, as well as barbers Tom Tarrant and Roy Dyke. She took over the shop from Russ when he retired in 2015, and has now proudly welcomed her daughter Stephanie into the shops second chair.
The Stag is honoured to continue grooming the generations of grandads, dads, and sons of Maple Ridge.
We thank all of our incredible customers for the many years of their dedicated patronage and we welcome many new ones every day!
